We are implementing SAP R/3 and I would like to store incoming fields internally in the Edi system and not have to change the SAP configuration. How can it be done ??? Example, incoming PO has a REF field containing a value. I need to send that value back on an invoice. Our Sap group does not want to modify their code to store it. They want us to use Edi to store and retrieve. Can it be done?

hi,
I am an EDI mapper and also a COBOL computer programmer.
My suggestion is, if your Order Entry System, has a field
to hold, lets say the Department, from the REF*DP*1234^
you need to pass it to it, so when the Invoice needs to go
back to the customer, you will have it back.
That is of course, if your invoice file record layout
has the space the hold the Department, and from there for you to map it.

hope this info helps.

LA_Man,

Have you looked into creating a turnaround document? This allows you to generate outbound documents using data from inbound documents. Refer to the Gentran documentation on how to do this (I don't use it often).
