I have a system that i access that i need to be able to capture in print output. It's basic output is more then 100 pages and i want to save some trees. The problem is when i try to print to the genreic text only printer i can not add a path to the output dialog box. Procomm seams to just freeze. I can't cancel it either. Is there a way i can preconfigure the print to file with a script when it pops the dialog box?

Thanks

Is the data just coming across the screen? If so, you might look into using a file capture instead of a print capture. I take it you are wanting to capture the file and not actually print it, correct?

I think I may have got it working. I did a Print Setup and selected the generic text only printer. Then selected the Print Capture. Had the application print and the dialog box for the path/file name popped up. This time I could enter the info in to the field and click okay.

Guess I was missing the print capture portion. Now, is there a way I can script the setup of the printer and check the print capture feature? I already have a script to login to the server and do the report setup.

Thank you JPJ

At the begining of your script where you want to start capturing data include the line CAPTURE ON and at the end before the endproc insert CAPTURE OFF. In your capture directory you will then find a file xxx.cap This is a standard text file that can be opened with notepad or word and printed on any printer.

Is there a way to set the file path for the default text printer.
