Is there a set of drivers i can use if i don't know what kind of network card i have?

If windows doesn't recognise it, then no.

Open up the PC case, look for a set of numbers printed on the side of the NIC. Almost all network cards will come with at least an FCC number, which you can use to identify the make and model on the FCC website.

(Sorry I haven't got links - it's been a while since I've used this method...once you've got the number, a quick google should do the trick).
