Hello,

I have a LaserJet 1150 that is connected via USB to a newly installed Windows Vista SP1 machine. The printer fails to install with the following error message:

Generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support - Failed.

The specified port is unknown.

After the PNP install failed, I installed the driver - HP Universal Print Driver - that is listed on HP's website for Windows Vista and it doesn't help either.

I've looked elsewhere in this forum and on the web only to find the recommended approaches does not work or the thread went cold.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
