I have a problem with generic icons on the desktop. The icon open the right programs thou. The computers are running XP Pro and are on a domain. The domain server is located in a remote office. The local and remote servers are running server 2003. The only way the correct icons appear is to log on as a user with domain administrator rights. Any new computer that has joined domain are added at the remote office, these computers do not have the generic icon problem. Any ideas?

Sorry wrong forum
Thanks

Go to Doug Knox's site, to the Win XP Fixes section. Click on File Association Fixes, then on ICO File Association Fix. Run that fix, then restart your computer."

A guess:

Start, Run, gpedit.msc

Navigate to:
Computer Configuration\Adminstrative Templates\System\Logon

Enable:[ul]
[li]Run logon scripts synchronously [/li]
[li]Run legacy logon scripts hidden [/li]
[/ul]
