Generator and Flash

I have a problem. Flash isn't the greatest when it comes to updating portions of a site, etc...you gotta make graphics, make sure theyre the right sizes, proportions, set everything up, and it gets annoying.

SO...I'd like to learn generator so I can update portions of a site on the fly and get rid of these long hours of work. It'd be impressive to update the things they want me to update so quickly...cause it gets annoying when your boss says you have to update 1/2 the site tomarrow, then complains because "its not done yet?"...none of these people understand how slow flash is to develop, etc.

GETTING TO MY POINT...where are there any Flash + Generator tutorials that I can learn from to be able to set up template pages, etc?

If you're developing in Flash MX I would say don't bother. Familiarise yourself with creating shared libraries (which you can load more graphics into as required), and commands like attachMovie(), which allow you to choose programmatically which graphics to place, and where. As of MX, loadMovie() now allows JPGs to be imported too - what more could you ask?!

Getting into Generator always seemed like a bit of a waste of time to me, especially if you're only interested in changing graphics and text. Database integration is one of the few things I MIGHT consider employing Generator for, but then again there are so many other methods of doing that ...

You can do your own templates without Generator - it just needs some thought and planning. Anyways, I'm sure your boss won't appreciate you spending 4 weeks trying to fingure out how to operate an entirely new piece of software - his site would NEVER get updated then! _____________________________________________________

Generator is VERY useful...when no site layout changes are needed...like we have
project 1

Picture 2
Picture 3

and all I gotta do is upload 4 files to change pictures and text and wham, that whole section of the webpage is now showcasing project 2...

Yeah, but with a little tinkering you can do that WITHOUT generator ... THAT'S my point. _____________________________________________________
