Generation of dynamic report

hi,
i am working in a database related project in VB/Access. i have to generate a dynamic crystal reports, means user can select no of columns, wants to see in crystal reports. User selecting fields from VB interface. and i am passing foumulas to generate reports.

I need help:
1. i am not able to change format of the field dynamically. is possible to change formats by visual basic.

2. can i chage the length of of line dynamically because some time there r 2 columns in reports & some time 10.

Use the can grow option for the field, that way if its one record or multiple it will account for it
