How can I change the default email address that is generated for users? I use first initial and last name for the user's active directory account, but their email address are firstname.lastname@company.com. I thought I remember in Exchange 5.5 that I could build the email based off of certain fields.

Thanks,
Tom

There are a couple of ways to do this...

By default Exchange uses the "Exchange Alias" which is on the exchange general tab of the user account to create the smtp address. Verify that the alias is first initial last name on each user that is incorrect.

The second was is to force the proxy address to be formulated in a specific way in your recipient policies. See MS KB article 285136. Essentially, what you want to see would be
[ignore]%1g%s@yourdomain.com[/ignore]

Hope this helps.

That is what I was looking for.
