Hi,
I would like to create a series of, say, bar charts in Impromptu v7.4, one chart per branch. My branches are not fixed and known in number; they must be queried.
Conceptually, this identical to a mailing labels template, wherein the resulting output is duplicated once per each unique address returned from the database.
However, I wish to duplicate numeric data, not just text, in any sort of arbitrary simple list or cross-tab I wish to create. It appears from reading Help that this iterate-thru-retrieved-data trick is only possible for text apps like form letters or mailing labels.
My guesses at approaches (if templates with placeholders don't solve it) are either:
1. Make each branch a user class; take advantage of "bursting reports" functionality.
2. Use Cognos macro script to iterate through a list of branches, calling whatever report is desired.
This solution must also work in Impromptu Web Reports, not just Impr. Admin/User.
Thanks for any sketch of an approach you can provide,
Tracy Slack
