Hi all, I hope you can help.
I have two DLT tape drives.
1.) Compaq 20/40GB DLT Drive
2.) HP Superstore DLT 70
I have loads of DLT tapes. (of three kinds - Sony DLTtape IV, IMATION DLTtape IV, and Maxell DLTtape IV).
Here's the problem:
I put any of the above tapes into my Compaq 20/40 GB tape drive the tape makes what can only be described as a grinding noise about 7 or 8 times. I cannot backup to the tape as it is described as "Bad Media".
If I put the same tape into my other DLT drive (the HP superstore DLT 70 one) the tape loads fine and I get no problems.
My guess is that the DLT tape isn't the correct design for the compaq tape drive but there is no indication on the tapes that it will not work.
Please someone help me!!
Regards..
Karl
