I am purchasing a system for my company to speed up processing for an application that can read and write to different files simultaneously. I would like to use 4 SCSI hard drives to accomodate the various files. What do I need to do to ensure that I can read and write to these files simultaneously? (controller or other wise) I was also told that it might not be a good idea to boot from the SCSI drive and so I would need an additional IDE drive to boot from. If this is true, how should I approach this? Will there be conflicts, will using the drive affect my SCSI read/write operations, etc? Anything else I need to look out for? Have fund spending someone else's money!
Any help is appreciated.

Boot from SCSI. Keep IDE totally away from the system. You'll never write to them at the same time, but you'll not be able to tell it. Would put 4 identical drives in, and plan to replace all 4 when the time comes to replace 1. In fact, might buy the spares to have on site, since they might not be in manufacture when you need a replacement. Ed Fair
