My question is regarding generating a report that will run as a standalone executable.

We want to create reports that we will be able to send out to clients and all they have to do is doubleclick and the report will prompt them to choose the database and the report will generate itself.

Furthermore do they have to have crystal reports installed on that machine?

My next question is regarding web reports. I want to make web-page that will hold all my reports and anyone with access to that site would be able to run these reports. Furthermore, which database would they be retrieveing data from? Can I specify a live database on my reports or must it be a static one on the web server?

Thanks

Dear Eager,

You can compile any report to run as it's own stand alone executable - with no Crystal Software on the machine that runs it. (Version 7 and version 8 with download patch)

Crystal 8 has a Web Component Server - that will allow you to do just as you've described- (with a maximum of 5 CAL users) - you can use a live database - as long as the report knows where it lives and has access to it.

Cheers,
