Ok, I am working with someone else's VB program and the access database that it accesses.

The MDB has some queries with some SQL code that comes up in the SQL view and some criteria in the Design view.

My question is WHEN is this code/criteria activated? Is it when data is entered into the database? Or does there have to be some sort of activation? Thanks, (-:

Hi

There has to be as you put it some form of activation.

I would suspect that the queries are tehere for testing or other purposes and are not actually used.

But if they are used, somewhere in the VB code there must be automation code which satrts and instance of Acecss running and executes the queries.

Hope that helps Regards

Thanks for the reply!

How would these be activated? Are there multiple ways to activate them?
Thanks, (-:

Hi

Not something I have done before, but I THINK, it would have to be via automation, so you are looking for code like CreateObject(..blah) or GetObject(..blah) to initiate an instance of Access, then something like qdf.execute or the like, sorry cannot be more helpful.. Regards
