I am really new at this, so bear with me please. I have a Genealogy Software Program, Ultimate Family Tree, and the company is defunct and no longer supports. I have used this for seven years, and am in the process of producing a huge book, probably 10,000 pages, includes over 1,000 photo images. My problem is that when I initiate the compilation of all the data, individuals have a number assigned to them. Each person can be assigned a photo image as "Preferred", so that photo appears when this person's data is brought to print. By the way, once this compilation is complete the program is set to use Rich Text Format, and converts to WORD. This produces a completed book of the entire database. Everything works absolutely fine until I add one more option to the compilation. If I add photos, other than marked preferred photos, and I chose the "check box" "Event Images", the compilation gets right to the point of converting to the WORD file, and then crashes. It does not allow for recovery, and gives absolutely nothing more than the following: General Protection FAULT in module UNKN 040F: 7FDE 3/4 FoxPro will Close. This entire process runs to completion, produces a book, and also produces the additional photos when I initiate this same process on the sample project provided with the UFT Software package. The only thing I see that is different is the size of the personal project as opposed to the small sample project which came with the package. Is there some way to trace the problem? Am I doomed to have this continue to fail? I see that the version of FoxStart is 1.2, and I am wondering if updating to a newer version would resolve my problem.

Ronutf,

I don't have a specific answer for you, but I can suggest a few avenues to explore.

1) What OS are you using? In my experience, FoxPro 2.6 and Word did not get along well under Windows 98, so in the off chance that your OS is as old as your UFT software is, I thought I'd mention it.

2) I don't have any experience with FoxStart, but as I understand it, it is a type of fix for the infamous "divide by zero" problem with FoxPro and fast CPUs. If you haven't already, I'd suggest searching this forum for "divide by zero" and/or "divide by 0" and you'll come up with lots of posts and maybe one of them will lead you in the right direction.

3) Does the UFT software offer any utilities to re-index your tables? If so, have you tried that?

Teresa,

Thanks for jumping in here. I don't believe the problem is associated with the divide by zero problem. I did read all the pages you said to check out, but nothing really sounds anything like what has transpired here. I have Windows XP, and this UFT software has functioned fine with the FoxPro. It "ONLY" fails when I attempt to compile and convert to WORD when I select this one specific function within UFT. General Protection Fault in Module unkn 040F: 7FDE 3/4, and then it shuts down the UFT software automatically. The function in UFT that is being attempted to run is linking more images to specific events in the database. Why FoxPro jumps into this fray I can't figure, since I can remove the check mark to operate that function, rerun the compile and conversion, and everything runs smoothly. Thanks for the old college try!

A stab in the dark: Is it possible you're running up against a file size limitation in Word that's crashing the process?
