Recently, we started having some intermittent problems while running some sql jobs. It does seem to happen more in jobs that run for awhile across linked servers but have gotten it while just running an sp on the local server. We are running sql 2000 server.

"Executed as user: GNTRAD\Administrator. ConnectionRead (recv()). [SQLSTATE 01000] (Message 10054) General network error. Check your network documentation. [SQLSTATE 08S01] (Error 11). The step failed."

Thanks,
Joe

It might be a network issue but just because it says it is doesn't mean it is.

It can be a general fault. I have come across this error before when it ended up being the local hard drives playing up. Basicly the drives were not in there RAID cradle. With a network error message you can understand that in took a few hours to work out what the fault was. Check your NT event log, if it is hard drives you should see this in the event log.
