First of all I am completely new to NetBackup so forgive me if this is an easy one. Situation is this; partition that NetBackup is installed on is 5GB, that partition is almost full. There are a lot of large files under the NetBackup/Catalog directory, some of them are from 2+ years ago. What are these files for? Do I need them? Are they safe to archive and delete? I do not have the documentation for NetBackup, I am in the process of getting it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I assume that your system had been set up to do a catalog backup to that directory - Not very safe if the system crashes as you need a tape copy or a backup on another server - The later being what we do.

netbackup\catalog is not a valid data directory from Veritas NetBackup DataCentre - Professional??

You did not mention your version?

Hi,
i have come across this problem before.
Basically, each time Netbackup performs a backup, it
will store an image file relating to that backup.
The image files get automatically deleted once they
have reached their expiry date.
it is likely that your backups are not set to expire. Check the expiry dates on your backups.
Alternatively, you have recently added a lot of systems to the backup schedule.
This is true of all versions.
