I am in the process of preparing a report for my supervisor. I need information on the various RDBMS software available along with their limitations. Currently, we are planning to develop a material tracking system for a repair facility. This database will monitor the status of the item when it enters the facility, throughout the repair process, and exits the facility. I anticipate that there will be atleast 50 concurrent users at anytime. In addition, the product must be upscalable for future growth.
If you have any information or URL to websites containing comparison info, please share. Thanks in advance.

You want to look a Micosoft SQL Server 7.0 or Oracle
I agree with Doug, SQL 7.0 or Oracle. Don't even try Access; as much as I love it, it's limitations are well understood by we developers (not a Server), and it isn't to be considered when you have that many users. FoxPro has similar limitations--although you can get by with a little more in fox because it has a very fast engine, it's still not a Server, and that's the crux.
I would also recommend DB2/400, but, of course, it is married to the hardware, so you'd need to have an AS/400--if they're not a 400 shop it may not be worth the hardware cost. However, I can say of the 3 (400,SQL&, Oracle) DB2/400 on the AS/400 is, in my reasonably experienced opinion, by a fair margin the most rock-solid, stable of the 3. Oracle is fast, powerful and easier (than the 400) to work with. SQL7 similar to Oracle in that regard. There are others, Informix comes to mind, but I've only worked with it once--and never did any real developing with it, so I can't make a well informed comment on that. Good luck,
There are forums on SQL & Oracle here in tek-tips
Perhaps you could post your question(s) there and they could tell you if either is right for your situation...
