Our GD Mailbox has a message that says "Mailbox is not initialized and can not accept any messages" then it plays the recorded message and allows for the caller to leave a message - does record messages and I can retrieve them. I have not a clue on how to initialize the General Delivery Mailbox. Please help!

Our setup: Caller gets AA, on 0 or no key pressed goes to ext 228 (oper), forwards to 231 on no answer and then goes to GD.

Also, is there a way to notify a this group that a message is waiting in GD.

Thanks
If it ain't broke, it must be off.

ciaobaby,
I'll take a stab at this one... but doing some guess work here. Don't know what kind or software release your voice mail is so.....
Your GD Mail box should have its name recorded in and it's password changed. This is done just like any other mailbox.
After dialing F981, access Mbox admin: dial 8; then dial 1 to record your name in the company directory, and dial 4 to change your password.
If I have this all wrong and you have tried this already, then I suggest your default your software and start from fresh.

it sounds more like you are getting into a regular mailbox that has not been initiated yet. when that happens you will hear the recording that the mailbox has not been initated yet then get sent to the GD mailbox to take a message. Do you hear the same thing when you try feature 9 8 6 or feature 9 8 0 to go to the GD mailbox directly? JerryReeve

Tried recording the mailbox name in the company directory, still the same problem. Here is a little more info.. We are using NAM II Ver. NVM 3.0.10B

When I dial F 980, and listen to mailbox 100... I get the message without the "mailbox not initialized"

Do you think it might be how the last ext in the hunt group transfers to the General Mailbox?

Ciaobaby,
I think jerryreeve is right. Tou are somehow getting to a regular mailbox and being immediately transfered to the GD Box. You should check attendant settings. in Operator Status, the Table you are using (if) and just in case, the prime DN for your CO lines. You may have an attendant with a different mailbox than the GD Box. And that different mail box is the one that isn't initialized yet. Best to make the GD Box that of the attendant.
