Greetings

I have installed my new card(Gforce2 mx400) into the available PCI slot. Loaded the new drivers, yet my system will not accept the new card and will not boot up properly. Hanging during boot. From what I have read here it my be a BIOS problem but I have not attempted to change that as of yet. Any experience with this problem? My current system is a HP Pavillion / Win 98 / Pent III / 384MB RAM / 8MB onboard video.

Thanks

try disabling first the onboard video then remove the existing drivers of the onboard video then install the new card and the drivers.

I think what jznightmare meant to recommend was that you first remove the "drivers" of the old onboard video, reboot the PC, enter the BIOS & disable the onboard video. After all that, then try to install your new card. Obviously, you can't disable onboard video before removing its drivers without a way of seeing what you're doing!

You might also like to know that most PIII systems I've worked on are usually new enough to have AGP slots that disable onboard video automatically when a card is present. So hopefully the step to enter the BIOS is not necessary.

Yes, if all else fails, try flashing the BIOS to the latest revision. Also try to start the system in safe mode and remove all monitors and display adapter drivers.
