I have a PIII 866 , 384 MB Ram, Windows ME
I just bought the Geforce FX 5200 so that my graphics in Asheron's Call would improve. They did improve but now my mouse goes non repsonsive in game. The mouse is fine everywhere else, out of game. I can move it, then it wont move, then it moves then wont and so on. I went thru the steps of disabling my on-board video card per the manufacturer. I tried various older versions of NVIDIA drivers. I tried adjusting mouse sensitivity. I tried adjusting graphics options. I bought a new mouse. I spent countless hours talking to MS which led nowhere. Anyone have any ideas?

I forgot, its a PCI Card. I have no AGP Port

Have you tried any other games and, if so, does this happen there too?

---------------------------------------

In my limited experience, 80-90% of all problems brought to my attention can be attributed to PEBCAK...the other 10-20% can be attributed to MS!

aluver,
Have you had any success with this problem?
I'm currently working on a system that has a PNY Verto GeForce FX 5200 128 MB PCI graphics card (another wonderful new PC w/o AGP - who makes these decissions?)

The card works well enough for most functions except for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Through most of the game there is severe polygon erroring, and makes the game completely unplayable.

It's using the latest nvidia drivers and they are digitaly signed. Just curious if you were having any like problems or if any one was.

Thanks.

MACHiNESMiTH,

Much thanks to you! That fixed the horrid little problem.

I could have sworn I look all over that site for a patch.. Perhaps I became blinded with the over 72 hours of frustration and it slipped by. As always Logic, Reason, and Common Sense are usually the first casualities of fighting tech problems.

May the little gnomes that live in your computer bless you the rest of your days.

Thanks again!

Hmm, no it doesn't. I just upgraded to windows xp and the problem is gone though, go figure

* Me Takes a Bow :D

No problem, Yeah it was kinda hard finding the link, but we gamers gotta stick together, right?

And thnks for the blessing...Unfortunatly it Seems that the little Gnomes are upto OTHER mischief in my comp.

Which brings me rather Nicely to Aluvers point:
I just upgraded to XP Pro - and now my screen keeps on refreshing in very annoying blinks! I suspect the VGA drivers butdoes Anyone have anyother opinions?

I have a XFX Geforce FX 5200 AGP Running the Latest NVIDIA drivers (ver44.03)

Sorry to hear about your current problems. Are you experiencing the refresh blinks all the time or just in certain programs (ie. in a game but not in windows)?

I've experienced similar problems but none recently or with that particular graphics card.
But my problem was caused by a refresh rate that my monitor couldn't really handle and a resolution that was too large.
So, since you have the latest nVidia drivers, check out the custome refresh rates under display properties and make sure none are set outside your monitor's range.

Good Tip Man. But I found Out that it was a Windows XP "Hot Fix" patch that would get installed when I installed my AGP bridge Drivers. Apparently Micro$oft's Uber Operating System can't Handle it's own Updates! OnceI uninstalled that the Blinking stopped!
