GeForce 6800 Yellow Tint Problems

I just got my new GeForce 6800 GT delivered today and immediately replaced my ATI Radeon with it. During boot-up, however, I noticed that the text was yellow instead of white. Then, when the XP welcome screen came up, it was green instead of blue. There is a somewhat strong yellow tint to everything on the screen, and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

I have reseated the card a couple of times already to no avail. It isn't a power supply problem, either, as far as I can tell -- the card requires a 350W supply and mine is 500W. The monitor was working fine with the Radeon, and the yellow tint doesn't apply to the monitor's built-in adjustment menu accessible from the buttons on the front of the screen, so I don't think that's it either.

I have sent an e-mail to the tech support of the manufacturer of the card, PNY Technologies, but I thought I'd ask you guys to see if you had any suggestions. There's no telling how long it will take them to get back to me. Thanks!

I have a similar problem to this (yellow tint) with a Radeon 9700pro, mine problem is a bad VGA cable, I kinda push it one way and the colour corrects itself to normal.
Bent pin perhaps?
Have you tried the card with the DVI to VGA connector?
Are you sure all remnants of the ATI drivers were uninstalled before the latest Detonators (66.93) were applied?
Have you used a seperate molex connector for the cards power plug?

I can't see anything wrong with the monitor plug -- no bent pins, and the only missing pin is the one that isn't supposed to be there. I had no problems with the wire or monitor at all before replacing the video card earlier today. I have fidgeted the wire as you said, and at both ends, but with no luck.

I tried connecting the monitor to the digital video port using the adapter, but I got no image at all. I have no experience with this type of connection -- is there something else I need to do for the digital port to work?

I uninstalled every ATI entry listed in the "Add/Remove Programs" before shutting down the system and installing the new card. Note that this isn't just a Windows problem, anyway -- I don't think installed drivers would affect the colors of the text and logo screens during boot-up.

I have tried connecting several different power connectors to the video card and none have produced any different results.

Thanks for the reply... Still struggling over here. Bright yellow isn't kind to your eyes. =)

I just got the digital port to work, and everything looks great... No yellow tint! Any idea why this works and the regular port won't?

Also, I've never used this kind of connection. What are the disadvantages or advantages of running through the digital port, if any?

Thanks again for the suggestion, paparazi!

I will just add, that by working through the DVI plug only, leads me to the conclusion that there is a problem with your graphics card, by doing this you having elliminated a possible monitor or cable fault and bought the spotlight of cause back onto the graphics card itself.
I would email the manufactures with this extra information.

Martin is right. Your tests showed that your monitor is okay, that the DVI port (which is a second VGA drive independent circuitry) workd fine. So it only remains that the drive electronics of your regular VGA port has one of its channels defective. This is something that is repairable, but not by the ueser. Send the card back for an exchange. They shall not question after the tests you made. There's nothing you can do to repair it, and if you ever want a 2-monitor setup in the future the problem will show again.
