Hello All,

My Geforce 4 ti4600 is about 2 years old, after about a year and ahalf of intense gaming, I stopped using my computer for about 6 months. I recently returned to find my graphics laggy. I took the advice of a friend and took a part my computer and cleaned it out. I removed the card, cleaned out the fan, and put it back and reinstalled the drivers and restarted.
Then the bigger problems started.

1. The splash screen was messed up.
2. When I loaded windows, it would freeze in about 10 seconds at the login screen and the monitor would flicker.
3. I took it out again, looked it over and found nothing wrong, and tryed again - same result.
4. I booted in safe mode and it worked, and i uninstalled drivers and reinstalled them, and it failed to boot windows correctly again.
5. I turned on VGA mode, and it worked fine except i had to change all my graphics settings when I booted up, which was quite annoying. Other than that it ran better than before.
6. I took the problem as some sort of driver issue. So i decided to reformat. I reformatted, reinstalled everything including new drivers from nVidia, and now it won't run in VGA mode.

You have to eliminate the possiblities. Right now it can be anything. To make sure that the problem is related to the video card and not another system component, the only way is to find another video card, install it in your system and see if you get similar or any symptoms.

I have another graphics card, but i cant get into windows to uninstall my current drivers.
