Hi everyone,
We've got a hotel customer with an LG GDK-186, and a recent power disturbance caused them some issues. I've been there myself to investigate but I am not an expert on these systems by any means. They reported that their analogue bedroom phones were not working but their admin digital phones were fine. Upon arrival I found that only one bedroom in particular was not working - when I picked up the phone there was just a very loud, high-pitched tone or alarm sound, like a screaming noise. Pressing any keys on the handset interrupted this noise momentarily but it immediately returned, so I was unable to dial anywhere.
There was a light on one of the SLIB24 cards which means the card's in use but as all the hotel rooms are empty this cannot be the case, indeed I traced cabling from the room to this particular SLIB and the noise was present when testing on the Krone strip just adjacent to the LG system.
Resetting the system (hard and soft) made no difference. If I call the station number it comes back "Invalid", however I know that the station still exists within the programming because I can view Station Attributes 1, 2 and 3 for it. In fact, as I now recall, there was another room that I walked into and the phone (which had been left slightly off-hook) was making the same sound, and when I hung up it went back to normal dialtone. Does the LG system have off-hook warning tone/howler tone? Could that be what I was hearing on both phones? If so, could there be some problem on the SLIB card that's preventing me hanging up the phone? Another phone has been tried in the room, I'm told.
What would cause a station to come back as "Invalid" if it still exists in the programming? I don't know if the 2 problems are related (the noise I'm hearing and the fact that I can't call that extension) but I'll assume that they are.
Any help and advise would be much appreciated please as I'm stumped on this one. I think we're going down the route of replacing the SLIB card but I'm not totally convinced that's the answer here.
Thanks,
Dave
