hi folks,

I need to install the gd-library into my running
lamp-system. I learned, that I need the version 1.5, if
I want to make gifs and that zlib has to be installed.

Is there anything else I have to think about?
I apreciate any hint I can get.

thanks in advance

greetings markus

You might want to also install FreeType ( first, and then compile GD with FreeType support. This allows you to use any TrueType fonts (*.ttf) you want in your graphics.

I believe you will want an older version of FreeType, since this is an older version of GD. Try Freetype 1.3.1.

Oh, and if you want to be able to create PNG images, you will need libpng installed on your system also. (I don't remember if GD 1.5 includes PNG support)
