gcc on openserver

Hi,

I was wondering how i get gcc to work?
i have the openserver dev kit, which works fine
i have installed the version off the skunkware ftp site
and it seems to be ok, then i tried to compile
freetds so i could access some mssql servers and ./configure says i cant create binaries!

so... i followed the advice on the gcc site and applied
the suppliments , but i get the same error. has someone got
a list of things that must be in plaxe, or a crib sheet
so i can figure this out?
