GCC issue

I'm using ./configure and make to build some packages from source code. Is make part of gcc?
It seems that to build gcc I need gcc installed! So does it make sense getting the source for gcc and building it?

make is not included in gcc

try rpm -qa | grep make to see what are the installed packages
