i installed slackware and did it all correctly. im pretty much going for text only without the distraction of the net or games to finish my study of C, so i installed slak 8.1 on my secondary machine. it boots and logs in all fine (even gives me a fortune, w00t) but when i go to compile the standard test of a hello world program, gcc tells me that stdio.h doesnt exist. i had this problem a few months back, but i dont think i ever fixed it. and i havent had the problem with every install from this cd or this drive either.

so, any help? žÅNžÅ

Did you remember to install the system headers packages (not sure what Slackware calls it)? //Daniel

no, i dont think i did... i just searched the whole filesystem for stdio.h and nothing came up... *feels about as stupid as one can*

does anyone know what that package is called? žÅNžÅ

well, it turns out i did... glibc_solib.tgz but im still getting the error žÅNžÅ

ok, well apparently slackware 8.1 and up dont use that package. a knowledgable friend of mine suggested that the header files might be included in the gcc base package. *smacks forehead* žÅNžÅ
