GCC and SCO Openserver 5.0.6 3

does anyone know where I can get a compiler that works with SCO Openserver 5.0.6???

The version that I have is from:

http://www.caldera.com/skunkware/devtools/inex.html

I have version:
gcc-2.95-VOLS.tar

it looks like it installs properly, but when I try to compile SSH from:
ftp://ftp.ssh.com/pub/ssh/old/ssh-2.4.0.tar.gz

./configure

gives me the error:
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables.

anyone know why??

this describes how to get gcc-3.2.2 to compile on 5.0.6a.

the "cannot create executables" is normally from a failed cross compile or a compile looking for c++ libraries, libstdc++, which might not be included with gcc-2.95.

You need to also install the SCO specific libraries and header files:

You need some libraries, header files and some other things that do not get installed by default.

To install these, insert your original OS CDROM, run custom, choose Install New and install the "SCO OpenServer Linker and Application Development Libraries" - note that these are NOT part of the Development System or Enterprise choices; you don't have to expand any packages, this is right at the top level. The instructions at the Skunkware site can throw you off because they tell you to look for "Application Development Libraries and Linker", which is not what is says on the CD's.
