gbic wont work

I have an older 3550 and the gbic card I have wont work, its a copper gbic.

Our netadmin at SUNY said I have an older switch so it must be an older gbic...

Here is the show version .. any suggestions on a copper gbic.. I dont want to buy one then return it.

You need to find out what model gbic it is and see if the IOS in the switch is new enough to support that gbic .

do a "showinterface" on the interface which has the GBIC inserted, too - that will give you a clue.
