gaussian blur printing problem

Gaussian blur objects in the Illustrator file display a rectangle area around the blur of brigher color than the layer below. Is there any way to overcome this effect? I'm printing to an HP Laser 5500.

The fix for the transparency problem in an earlier post fixed my problem. Please ignore this posting.
