Our new Unity Connection VM has some really big shoes to fill.

Today I retired our Octel Overture-250 voice mail system, shutting it down after logging continuous, uninterrupted service for 16 years, 7 months and 21 days.

Good luck getting that kind of service out of the unity box. The 250 was a great system till Avaya got hold of it !

I'd have to agree that Octel "set the standard", literally "MIL Spec" in every sense of the term. We installed that system in October of 1995 and paid only $85k for it (single cabinet) with 48 ports, 3000 mailboxes & 4 drives (Global Message Redundancy) and most of the other available options. Literally "stable as Jesus" the dang thing just always worked. Over 145,000 hours on the drives. Made in the USA (Milpitas, CA)

Unfortunately precious little is made that well any more.

Did you replace your phone system with Cisco as well? I'm only asking as we still have an octel 250 from the 1990s holding up our telco closet and always discussed replacing it for Unity but have never pulled the trigger.
