I am relatively new to PERL, although I have more than contributed to the Windows/IIS/Unix forums for a couple of years. So now, I need some help.

My shell scripting is good, but when I found a limitation to what I wanted to do someone suggested I try it in PERL.

To start simple: How (what keywords) do I use to gather directory information; number of files, timestamps, permissions, etc, from a directory on a remote server that I have access to?

Just the keywords will do. I like help but not too much. Or point me to a good example script.

TIA,
HD
