Gateway WIN98

Recently I lost the cursor for my mouse, so I did a system recovery and reloaded WIN98. Everything works fine except my graphics and fonts.
I tried to change the colors in display from 16 to 256, but when I do the restart the colors change back to 16. There are only two colors to chose. The video card is a 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee VGA card. If I go to the card prop. it tells me that it is working fine.
Is something not loaded correct? WIN98 should load everything, right?

I could really use HELP !!

You've got standard VGA driver loaded (98 either didn't reocgnise or doesn't have a dirver for your card). Go to website, download 98 driver for it and install.
