gateway to 2k

My nerotic supervisor is looking to setup gateway to 2k. I need to convince him this is a bad idea. Are there any problems, such as performance degridation, security issues, and anything else that I could you to set him straight.

He thinks he's a computer geek, but can't even recognize an incorrect username format for loggin on to the network. idiot

First off, you shouldn't slam you supervisor in a public forum, it's not a good idea.

There are no problems for NetWare Gateway servcies on 2K. It will help users who do not have the NetWare client on thier workstation to access the netware file system through the 2K box.

You could give you manager a BETTER idea though. You can install Native File Access Protocol onto your 5.1 box and then the Windows workstations will be able to access the NetWare files with out a client.

But if you already have the Novell client on all of your workstations, then it is pointless and a waist of time. Brent Schmidt CNE,Network +
