I have to upgrade my TMR and have the following question.
My current development TME has the server hardware (AIX) that I want to run my production gateway services. I don't want to touch my development environment and fortunately have an opportunity to "start from scratch" on the production environment. All servers in both developemnt and production are AIX.

Basically I want to switch the hardware (gateways) between developent and production without too much impact to the developement environment. Keep in mind that the production TME will not exist as all the hardware will be refreshed with new OS and Tivoli software (FWK 4.1,ITM 5.1.1, TEC 3.8) AIX 5.1

Not really sure what you are asking here. The Gateway can be part of any ManagedNode. In production, a heafty server with plenty of memory and disk space will be the ticket for the ITM environment. If you are able, the optimum choice would be to have a ManagedNode to take care of your ITM environment and a ManagedNode to take care of your TEC environment. Depending on what you are using ITM for, these can require lots of resources to take care of the traffic involved.
Thanks,
