Trying out router redundancy. For the two switches the router acts as the gateway. During the normal working the switches shares the load and one of the switch eg: switch A act's as the master. But when one switch fails the router will have to switch to the next switch eg: switch B and continue to send the traffic through the other one. But since there are no protcols running in between the switch's and the router to detect the failure, how could the router be informed of the port failure on switch A. This is going to work well for the upward moving traffic (i.e from switch to the router). But if you take the other case where the traffic has to move from router to the switch, the router is going to keep sending the traffic through the switch A (even though the switch A fails) . Because the router is going to check whether the physical link is alive or not and it alway's going to give an "yes". So how to resolve the situation.
