Gateway "no such USB mass storage device"

Trying to upgrade the firmware on a G430 via usb.

Normally when I plug in a USB the gateway shows that the drive has been registered, but no joy with this device. The drive is good and I used it on a different G430.

Is there something that has been done to disable the USB on this G430, or do you have to enable them?

dunno...ive always been lazy and used scp. format fat32 and try again?
