If the gateway / internet goes down the internal network goes down ? for example: can't telnet to the redhat servers. Does any body have any ideas
It does this at two different locations.
LOCATION 1

router/gateway/dhcp : Soho 3
server : redhat and micsoft
workstations: 98/xp

LOCATION 2

rounter/gateway/dhcp : Soho3
server : redhat
workstation 98/xp

It sounds like you have your default gateway in your network cards set to the interface IP for your ISP. Try changing the Gateway to a router or interface that is inside your LAN before the router connected to the ISP. This way when the ISP goes down you will still be able to hit your default gateway and connect to others in your LAN.
