Gateway FPD 1810 goes dead 1

I have a dual monitor set up with gateway fpd 1810 monitors. One of the monitors works fine, the other one works for a bit, and then gets "streaky." Basically, the screen flickers, and vertical streaks of the wrong colors appear on the screen. This even happens on the system diagnostic screen when the computer is off. This has happened on two different computers, so i don't think it's the video card, and i've tried both analog and digital connectors. any ideas?

It sounds like that monitor has a heat issue. Unfortunately, the only permanent solution is to replace that monitor. However, you may find that if you place a fan to blow into the back of the monitor that you can extend its life considerably.
