Hi,

Sorry I know not quite the correct forum. We're having an issue with our IP Office when using it on a fall back connection.

We're told Gamma will not take a secondary IP to authenticate in case of a connection failure, does anyone know if this is the case / they've had this scenario. We're told the only way forward is with the active/standby configuration from them which as far as I see if more for multi-site, not a secondary connection.

Thanks,

That is correct you would either need to use the active/standby setup or you have to manually change the IP on the Gamma portal between your connection IPs if you need to failover.

We do it both ways depending on what the customer is willing to pay for/wait to happen.

Also if you are using a single IPO, then one connection would need to go to the LAN1 and one to the LAN2 so you can use the different IPs on the Network Topology tab, but then it still wouldnt fail over automatically as you would need to amend the IP routes and which LAN the SIP trunk is using for its network topology.

Alternatively use either an SBC with both connections configured to Gamma (still requires the manual change on their portal) and just the one to the IPO.

Finally if you firewall allows it bypass network topology and use SIP ALG on the firewall to amend the internal IP to the public IP, so that in the event you need to failover you again just have to amend the gamma portal.
