Using W2K, I can run many 'modern' Windows games with no problem, but there are others (eg. Star Wars Racer or Rogue Squadron) which think the pc is NT and insist they require Win95/98 before they can run. The games are installed on a FAT32 partition.

I have been told there is some software around which 'fools' the games into thinking they are running on a Win95/98 machine. Does anyone know about this, and, if so, where I can get hold of it?

Any other possible solutions (I do NOT want a dual-boot with Win98!)

TIA,
Alan

Got it, installed it, but I can't get it to work either! The help is non-existent (thanks to Microsoft for providing a Help button which doesn't bring-up any help) so I'm groping in the dark with the following...

Operating system - is this the current OS or the OS that I am 'fooling' the game into thinking it's running on?

"If the program does not run properly, select one of the following check boxes:... "
Tried them all, none work. If I am only to select one checkbox, why not provide optionbuttons instead? Could I not select more than one checkbox? I'm none the wiser.

>You can also try under Compatibility|Games.<
I'll check it out now.

Many thanks,
Alan

depending on the game, such as Theif for example, what those games did was to try avoid being ran on NT, because prior to Win2k, NT system had very limited DirectX capabilities, what would be nice is to be able to change the windows version String, but that would affect every other aspect of the system, what they should have done is checked for DirectX capability , rather than what OS it was.
