I'm not 100% sure this question fits here, so if it does not, please tell me.

The organization I work for is currently considering leaving the Windows 2000 forest setup by the parent organization for a variety of reasons. And, I have been tasked with creating an alternative solution. This was not a problem until I ran across the Global Address List.

Basically, what I need to extract from the GAL, and replicate to the GAL, is e-mail addresses and names. And, then publish the list so users can access the list.

Is LDAP the right tool for this, or should I be looking at another solution?

Thanks,

Jay

An alternative to AD is LDAP.

We used to use Outlook with Exchange then switched away from Exchange and so instead used a 3rd party LDAP server.

Its not brilliant but it works.
