Gabit makes FC Emulex defined

On the 44p-170 with AIX 4.3.3 ML8 ,once we install the IBM GIGABit HBA - the Emulex FC adapter goes defined.

We have tried reinstalling the SW - did not help.
errpt and diag are all clean,drivers look ok in smit.

Any ideas ?

Hello,
people are confused about the gigabit ethernet card vs emulex Fiber Channel adapter that is used to connect to fiber channel switch like brocade.

The problem is this - have you looked adapter placement Guide to see what slots this adapter are supported and if you could have more then 1 adapter.

What are the name of the filesets.

This happened to me also and it was the problem with the slot allocation. I am using the BULL EPC 810 (=IBM M80)and was told by BULL to put the EMULEX to a specified slot.

Hello,
you did not answer the question. IBM design the adapter placement guide for a reason. If adapter placement guide does not support it then it is not going to work.

I do not care the hardware CE tries all the combination.
IBM has latest adapter placement guide on the web.
