I have a BCM 200 Rls 4.0 with a G8X16 and a DSM 16+. We have used the 8 alog trunks but need to add another couple of lines to the system.

I'm planning to replace the DSM 16+ with another G8X16 but just not sure if this will work, if it will be service affecting and I'm not sure what to set the dip switches to on the new G8X16.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

It will be service affecting but not for long.

it depends on where you currently have the DSM16+ set as an 8X16 will take 2 busses with the trunks being on the lowest bus (PITA IMHO).

If your current 8X16 is on bus 2(trunks) and 3(sets) and the DSM16+ is on bus 4, then it's simple to add the 8X16 on bus 4 (trunks) and 5 (sets).

You will have to do some re-numbering of ports no matter what if people MUST retain their existing extensions.

MagnaRGP - Thanks for the reply.

The DSM 16+ isn't really used at the moment, so I should be able to get away with not having to renumber a load of extensions.

Is there a way I can find out what bus the existing 8X16 is using from element manager?
