Hi,

I have a G5. I believed that the Cd Rom is a DVD/CD burner. How do I burn a CD. When i put in a blank Cd, it prompted to open up application. What is the correct application for burning disc.

URgent help needed, please help.

Thank you in advance.

Assuming you have no software installed - you might want to look at Disk Utility in the Applications / Utilities folder. This 'might' help... although i cannot be certain. It seems to me that Apple have dropped the Disc Burner application they had in the earlier version of OSX

Hi Duncan

Thanks for your prompte reply. I managed to see the icon - Burn under the disk utility. Do we need to burn a image file? i remember in my last job, the burn icon is always in the finder and the thing is need to do is to select the folder and click on that icon to burn. Sorry I am quite a idoit in mac. Please advise.

Thank you very much.

Cheers

Go System Prefrences > CDs & DVDs and select Open Finder when you insert a blank CD. Your blank disk should now appear on your desktop. Simply drag items you want to burn into the disk icon then when you try to eject the disk the system will ask if you want to burn or eject. Click burn and let it fly!

Matzki - if that is the case... i did not know it! I'll give it a go!!!

Kind Regards

Sorry, need another help. I need to copy DVD to DVD. I have the burner in my G and another extender DVD burner (connected by USB) port. I am burning a DVD (it will autorun- is a movie). Therefore if i were to copy all the files from the orginal disc to the harddisk and burn from there, it is not going to work (as in autorun).

Is they anyway of doing it. Please advise asap.

Sorry and thanks in advance.

Regards
HM

AFAIK, most DVDs are encrypted to prevent disk->disk copying. However, there are applications that break this encryption and compress dual layer movies to a size compatible with single layer DVD disks.

Now, these acts may or may not break laws in your country of residence, so a more detailed discussion is likely to risk a red flag.

However, were you to go to a site like versiontracker.com and enter words describing what you want to do, there are a number of open source programs which should be listed.

Hi,

thanks. It is actually our own data cd. Will try to search for the applications you mention.

Thank you.

obelix,
Merely making an assumption on the part of your post where you say the disk
