Experienced an error while attempting launch the Post from Sub-Ledger process: "program emessage is recursively called".

After hitting "OK" and declining to open the report file, it is back to the menus. Running Macola 7.6 (I think) with Pervasive 8.5. Server is a dedicated Dell 2280 running Win 2003 Server. This particular error has never occurred before. The wording makes it appear as though it is looping somehow when launching the Post process.

Exiting Macola and restarting provides no change.
Rebooting client machine, no change.
Rebooting server allows me to launch the Post process one time only, then every time after that produces the same error.

Any ideas on a cause would be appreciated.

You need a new emessage.dll file from Macola support or from your business partner.

Thanks, but that will cause a follow-up question.

We have multiple companies in Macola. When I look through the Macola program files I see only one emessage.dll file in the Macola76 directory, and not in any of the database folders representing the other companies.

If the .dll file is faulty I would expect it would effect all the companies since it appears they all share that same .dll. However, when I go into other companies the posting process works just fine.

Does this indicate a different issue or could it still be the .dll?

Thanks in advance...

The .dll is the only thing I have ever seen cause this, however that was an excellent question. Try the new .dll, which will not take long. If you still have issues post back and we'll explore it further.

Follow-up.....

Turns out the issue was one of the .btr files in a specific company database folder had become corrupted. Exact advised to delete the offending file and it would be recreated again when accessnig the database. This fixed the problem.

Unfortunately, I don't know the exact name of the file. Another employee working on a different Macola issue got the info but didn't keep it.

Another FYI here: The dll files are located in the macola root directory and/or the bin folder and/or the utilities folders. They don't reside in the data folders & are global for all companies.
