I recently purchased a HP Pavilion 510n. When I opened the pc to install extra ram, cards, etc. I noticed that there was no analog sound cable from the cd-rom to the on board sound card. I couldn't get sound to work at all when I put an audio cd into the drive. I found out that they are going digital now. To access the digital function, go to the Device Manager and select the drive you want. Click Properties and select Use Digital checkmark. I now have great sound using audio cd's. Just thought I'd give you the heads up, seeing that I was without audio sound for three days figuring this out.
