I recently had an HP tech coming to replace my fuser out of my HP LaserJet 9000dn. The fuser was severly damaged, a portion of it was torn and had a very large gouge in it.
Speaking with HP they said if you print off the confiuration page and your printer number is below 19 this is a known issue and falls under service not C8519a-20.
The controller inside tells the fuser to periodically role so it doesn't get any flat spots. For some reason the controller malfunctions and causes the fuser to get damaged as I described above. It has been occuring for the past 6 months since we got the printer, but always thought it was the printer cartridge beause the pages it printer would come out as if the tone was low.
Anyways, after the upgrade to the controller and new fuser, it is working like new again. Also once upgraded the printer number will also change. If I recall, mine is 1A now.
