Hi,
I tried to install Checkpoint FW-1 4.1 on my Win2K testbox
There a 2 NIC's in the server : 1 internal and 1 external.
The internal NIC has a fixed IP, the external NIC has a DHCP assigned IP (and will have to remain DHCP assigned !)

After installing the software, and rebooting the server, I got a lot of errors, and FW-1 is not running....

I think this has something to do with the fact that one of my NIC's is DHCP assigned...
How can I make a workaround ?

Other question : are there some websites out there with resources, tips&tricks, faq's, ... about Checkpoint ??

Thanks Peter Van Eeckhoutte

Websites are:
Anticode.com
SecurityFocus.com
securepoint.com
Phoneboy.com <-- BEST
securityportal.com

If I understand correctly - you are testing checkpoint-1 in an test enviroment, internal interface is static and external is dynamic. Can you give the external a static IP and reserve it on a DHCP Server?

Hi,

thank you for your reply, I will have a look at those websites

Unfortunately, I can't use the reservation in DHCP... the IP will always be dynamic...

Will this cause a problem ?? Peter Van Eeckhoutte

YES -- In order, for VPN-1 / FIREWALL-1 to work you need licenses. Checkpoint needs the external host IP -- WINDOWS 2K
