Is my monitor fixable?

Symptoms: extremely blurry screen when first booting up; after warmup (5 minutes?) it clears up a bit, but still blurry mainly around edges of screen. Has been gradually worsening over last several months. Fiddling with control buttons doesn't seem to help.

It's a 22" screen, 6 years old. Same problem even when attached to new computer (i.e. new video card).

Any advice about fixing versus shelling out $ for new monitor? Thanks!

NOW BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!! Very High Voltages!! Only proceed if compitant to do so!
Now thats out of the way I will tell you that your screen image has simply gone out of focus! and can easily be refocused by removing the monitor back and very slightly turning the focus screw, this is normally clearly marked "FOCUS" and is usually recessed in a unit at the rear of the monitor (small flat blade terminal screwdriver required)when I say small movement I mean "small" you have to be looking at the image as you do this so you can get it PIN SHARP! Just stay well clear of all components (high voltages can jump several inches!!!)
Note* you will also see other adjusters for brightness, contrast, and image position etc.
I may have made it sound very scary but it is a 2 minute job, just be careful. Martin Please let members know if there advice has helped any.

Thanks, Martin! With fear & trembling I opened the monitor case, hey, it wasn't so bad, I made sure to stay way far away from the voltage anode. Turning the little focus screw fixed things up fine. Now I can figure out another way to spend my $! Thanks very much!

My monitor may be more far gone but whenever anything dark comes onto the screen, everything goes very fuzzy. It's been like this for a couple months now. When there is a lot of white or light colors, most of the fuzzyness leaves. Any suggestions, should the tighten screw thins help?

There are several adjustments that can be made to improve picture quality.
Contrast, Brightness, Focus as well as projected image geometry (width, hight etc)
You may well improve on what you have but it certainly won't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
BE VERY CAREFUL! Don't tackle any adjustments if you are not competent to do so. Martin Please let members know if there advice has helped any.

Specificaly look for an adjustment that says sub brightness or somthing subxxx.
